Computer
Computer is one of the greatest wonders of modern science. Present is the age of computer no doubt. Without computer modern civilization is incomplete, to say the truth.
Computer was not invented overnight. Charles Babbage at first invented an analytical engine or calculating machine. In 1642 Claily Pascal invented a calculating machine that could do the work of addition and subtraction. In 1671 God fried Habnits devised a calculating machine that could do the work multiplication and division. In 1812 Charles Babbage planned the basic principles of modern calculator. In 19944 an electro mechanical computer was invented by the concerted effort of Harvard University and IBM, and now the course of computer is in euphoric situation.
A computer consists of five major components. They are – (i) input unit (ii) out put unit (iii) memory unit (iv) control unit and (v) arithmetic unit.
A computer mainly performs three functions. (i) It receives data (ii) It processes data by various computation (iii) It emits data. Computer renders great service to mankind. It has lessened our work and given us more comfort. It is being used in all spheres of our life likely education, medical science, agriculture, commerce, printing industry and so forth. Computer is also a source of income. Not only the developed country but also a developing country like us uses computer in various jobs. Effective measures should be taken to make computer cheaper and more available in our country.
There is no denying that computer has transcended the classicism of scientific civilization. It has made our activities speedier than that of Rip Van winkle.
